The nonprofit Artists for Community Transformation Intl provides the oversight and funding vehicle for Kami Rice’s humanitarian and international journalism projects.
Through Artists for Community Transformation, Kami serves as founding editor for Anthrow Circus, a website published by writers, photographers, journalists, artists, historians, and philosophers who interact with the world as creative anthropologists. Anthrow Circus’s journalistic and artistic projects provide cultural context for topics major media outlets cover; celebrate the world’s wonder; and reduce barriers of cultural misunderstanding that can keep humans separated from each other.
Through Artists for Community Transformation, Kami is also a cofounder of Allied Shepherd, which launched in August 2021 in response to the humanitarian crisis created when the U.S. and its allies withdrew from Afghanistan. Allied Shepherd assists endangered Afghans via work that has spanned the gamut from evacuation to resettlement to advocacy.
Funds donated here are tax-deductible and directly provide for Kami’s salary and related expenses for all this work. In addition, these donations provide critical sustenance for an important new project that is further leveraging the skills, knowledge, experience, and relationships gained through the Allied Shepherd team's five years of Afghanistan efforts.
