Help Us Make History and Leave a Legacy for Generations to Come
Thank you for your interest in supporting our film. We are making a new high-caliber 75-minute film titled, Far East Deep South, that will expand on the story of the Chiu/Lou family as told in our Finding Cleveland short documentary. We will explore more of the history of the Chinese in the Deep South and racial relations between the white, black and Chinese during segregation. We will also tell the heartbreaking story of how the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act put up immigration barriers that prevented the Chiu/Lou family from reuniting. To achieve this, we need to raise additional funds to cover costs for a professional film crew, equipment, travel to Mississippi, San Francisco and other locations to film interviews as well as editing, film scoring, animated graphics and other post-production costs. Funds raised will also go towards offering and marketing community outreach screenings of the film in cities across the U.S. We hope you will consider supporting this project to ensure that future generations across the US will learn about this often untold chapter of American history and the important contributions of Asians in America. We are currently finishing post-production on the film. Far East Deep South will have its film festival debut in March 2020.
